Normal Hours and Appointment Hours

Just a reminder that our normal hours are Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 9 AM to 4 PM, but we have a lot of people that find it more convenient to come at a different time. That’s no problem!  As long as we have someone here, you’re welcome to come.

We’re usually here, so if you want to come on one of our normally closed days, please call first to make sure. We might be running errands or tending to farm business, and if that’s the case we’ll work on scheduling something that works for all of us.

Our team is always here on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 9 AM to 4 PM – so no need to call on those days. But on the other days, we might not have enough help to handle the entire tree cutting, shaking, bagging and loading process.

If you need to contact us, the number is 609-457-4691.

Snowy Days in November

We had a beautiful snowfall last week, but it only lasted one day! Overnight, the temperatures climbed into the 40’s and by morning there was nothing left.

The Christmas trees and the rest of the farm looked like a winter wonderland for such a short time that I’m glad I captured a few pictures!

Here are a few pictures from our November snowstorm!

We Are Open For The Season

We are now open for the season – right now is a great time to tag your tree!

The weather is still mild and you’ll avoid the wait by calling ahead when your ready for it.

After we cut your tree, it's shaken and then wrapped in a net to make it easy to transport and get into your house.

Four Legged Family Members Welcomed Here

Every year people ask if they can bring their furry, four-legged family members to the farm. The answer is a definite yes, but we have a few rules:

  1. Please keep your four legged family member(s) on a leash at all times. I know it’s hard to believe, but not everyone appreciates dogs as much as we do :-).
  2. Please bring along your own tools for cleaning up any ‘presents’ they might leave behind.
  3. Please clean up any ‘presents’ right away.

Following these guidelines will keep the farm a safe and clean environment for everyone to enjoy.

Snow Days in March

March turned out to be a great month for NanNuk. We had several substantial snow storms and he couldn’t be happier!

Busy Days on the Farm

There’s always something happening on the farm, even in the winter. This is the time of year when we pull out the stumps from all the trees that were sold during the Christmas tree season, making room for spring planting.

Here are a few pictures from ‘stump pulling’ time:

NanNuk is supervising the burn pile. Soon there will be only a pile of ash where all the stumps were.

Bugs on my Christmas Tree – What?!?

Every Christmas tree can harbor insects that could become active after being exposed to the warm temperatures inside the home. Although many will stay on the tree, a few may be attracted to sources of light, including windows. But none of these accidental introductions are a threat to your home, its contents, or occupants.

Preventing introduction of these “pests” into your home is the best, and easiest, plan. Mechanical tree shakers, like the one we use here at the farm, are useful in removing some insects from the trees. Vigorously shaking the tree before bringing it into your home will serve the same purpose, and will also remove any loose needles.

Aerosol insect sprays are flammable and should NOT be sprayed on the Christmas tree. Insects occurring on the tree should be left there until the tree is removed. Any that collect on ceilings, walls, or windows can be eliminated with a vacuum cleaner. It is important to remember that these “critters” are normally found outdoors, on live trees. Warm temperatures, low humidity and lack of food will usually kill these invaders in a short time.

Here’s a great article from the Penn State College of Agricultural Sciences that explains what you can do if any of these critters become active in your home.

Seven More Days

There’s only seven more days until Christmas – whew, no pressure!

We still have plenty of Douglas Fir, Concolor Fir, and Norway Spruce Christmas trees – if you’d like to visit the farm on a day we’re not normally open just give us a call ahead of time. If we’re here, we’ll be happy to help you.

You can pick your own tree and we’ll cut it fresh for you. Then it’s on to Lil’Shakee for a shake out, then to the netter to get bundled up, and finally into (or onto) your vehicle for the trip home.

We did run out of grave blankets and wreaths – they were very popular this year, and we appreciate your support.
